Artà cookies (typical Mallorcan)

Preparación de la receta

Dissolve the yeast with a little of the TEMPERED water.

Mix the dissolved yeast with the remaining warm water and the oil.

STIR the flours and then add salt which is optional (I do not add salt).

Mix until you have a homogeneous dough (a ball) and cover it with film or a clean, dry cloth and let it rest until it doubles in size.

Stretch the dough on the countertop with a rolling pin/stick (a glass bottle or the roll of the film also serve) leave it about 1cm thick and cut the cookies with a cutter, shot glass or similar. (I have made them in different shapes, the original ones are square but depending on the town they make them oval, round ....).

Transfer the cut cookies to a baking dish with oiled parchment paper. With a fork make the dots in the center (optional).

Bake for about 40-50 minutes in a medium oven (It will depend on your oven, in my oven they are ready in about 40 minutes).

Let cool on a wire rack for about 5 minutes and you are ready!!!

Tip: if you make them with Christmas cutters you already have a perfect cracker for canapés and very funny 🤩 (keep in airtight tupper preferably).
