Soak the lentils for a couple of hours.

In the pot put a little oil, and fry the bell pepper, onion, garlic and carrot in small pieces.

Add the potato, fry a little and add a dash of crushed tomato and a couple of bay leaves.

Add the lentils and cover with water (I add a lot of water the first time).

Cook over low heat for about 1 hour and a half, with the pot covered, stirring every so often and adding water when necessary.

You can also cook them in the express pot for 20 minutes, but they won't have such a thick broth 😋😋.
