Preparación de la receta
1
Cook the potatoes (previously peeled) in a casserole dish with a dash of oil (optional) and a pinch of salt.
2
While the potatoes are cooking, we will prepare the meat. First cut the onion into small squares and fry it until it is cooked (not fried!) with a pinch of salt. When we have it, we will add the two cloves of garlic and a little bit of finely chopped parsley. Season the meat with salt, pepper and a little bit of onion powder. We add it to the fried onion and let the meat slowly cook over medium heat.
3
Once the meat is perfectly cooked, add the tomato. I use a natural tomato, made by me, which has all kinds of vegetables, but you can use any kind of tomato. We add it to the meat until it is a homogeneous mixture and not liquid because if it has too much tomato the cake will spread out when we plate it and it will not come out as we want.
4
When the potatoes are well cooked, we will mash them until we obtain a paste, to which we will add either a teaspoon of butter or a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, as you like. With this step we will obtain a paste that does not stick neither to the container nor to the spoon and it will be a much smoother and consistent mixture. When we have it already crushed we will go with the plating.
5
FOR THE PACKING: I have used this rectangular container because there are only two of us, but you can use any other container of other dimensions. Likewise, as you can see in the photo, I have only made one layer of meat, but you can "play" with this as you like, making as many layers of meat as you prefer. We spread a layer of mashed potato as the base of our dish and on top of it we put another layer of meat, then another layer of potato and finally cheese to melt on top. We put it in the oven for about 20 minutes (or until you see that the cheese is already melted) and.... READY! Enjoy, my loves! 🖤
