Preheat the oven to 160°C.

Cut the green plantain into 2 pieces and cook for 15-20 minutes in water, you can add a garlic (optional). They should not be overcooked, we just need them to soften a little.

Without letting them cool, put them on a board and cut them into 1 cm cubes. Flatten them with the help of a glass, a plate or another board. If you cover them with film/plastic it will be easier to flatten them without them sticking together and breaking.

Place the patacones, without crowding, in a greased baking dish.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Sprinkle with a little salt and serve.
