Put the dates in water to hydrate them and make them softer.

Clean the blackberries or the red fruit from which we want to make the jam.

Add in a saucepan over medium heat the blackberries with a little water in the base. The water does not have to cover, just a little! Stir and crush the blackberries a little. Meanwhile, squeeze a lemon and add the juice to the mixture and also the hydrated dates. The lemon juice contains pectin, which helps the mixture thicken without adding gelatin.

When the blackberries are like a paste, remove from the heat. The total cooking time can be about 25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly.

Pass through the blender or mixer so that there are not so many lumps.

Divide into different glass jars. You can keep it for a little more than a week in the refrigerator. If you want the preserves to last longer, it is better to vacuum the jars by boiling them in water for 10-15 minutes in a bain-marie.
